Grandma D stopped by before we left for our trip DC with a shopping bag full of road trip goodies for us. There were lots of great things in the bag, but of particular interest was a box of Twinkies. The kids had never had a Twinkie and a long discussion ensued about the chemical makeup of Twinkies. MacGyver informed us that one of the chemicals contained in the treats was the same as a material used to make skateboard wheels. Grandma assured them she thought they weren’t likely to die if they ate only a few, but that they did have to wait until we were on the road to try them.
We stopped at the chiropractor on our way out of town and the kids decided that was far enough into the trip to break into the treats. The Twinkies held particular appeal since they were so mysterious.
As they bit into them, Domo said,
“Oh, those are pretty good. I’m not underwhelmed!”
Apparently he was worried that he’d built them up so much in his mind that they could never compare to what he had imagined them to be. He was very happy to find he liked them as much as he’d thought he would.
