Dream Challenge – Final Day

Family Feb 26, 2012 No Comments

First the not so fun news – we’re sliding fast.  After a month in the middle of the leader board, we’ve now slid to eighth place and it’s not looking good.  For those of you who have absolutely no idea what I’m talking about, our family is a finalist in a contest for American Family “Go Get Your Dream” contest.  We entered  at the end of January and needed get enough votes for our dream to stay in the top 10 of among thousands of entries.  We’re currently at #8, and if we are still in the top 10 at midnight tonight, we move to the judging round.

Our entry describes our dream: “Finding Our Family By Leaving the World Behind.”  Like most families in America, we have busy kids, and busy lives, but it seems we’re all busy doing our own separate things, not experiencing everything our family has to offer.  This trip is our attempt to give family to our children, with memories they will carry for the rest of their lives.  We’ve worked and saved for three years to make this possible – this prize would allow us to add some amazing experiences and activities to our six-week travels.

There is more info here: http://ontheroadwithlewisandclark.com/family/dreams  We really need your help.  If you haven’t voted yet, it takes a few minute to register and then vote and you’re done.  There will be no more voting, they do not solicit you.  We’d really appreciate your support.

Now the fun news:  due to the different networks we’ve become associated with while planning our trip for this summer, I’ve gotten to know some fun people.  Tonight I’m going to be interviewed on The Real Housewives of Fulltime Families, a podcast that interviews moms of families who raise their kids on the road, living full time in a motorhome.  Even though we don’t have THAT plan or dream, because our trip will be six weeks, we sort of fall into a grey area between those that “fulltime it” and people who just camp casually.  If you’re interested, you can find the info here, it’s at 5:30 Central. http://www.blogtalkradio.com/fulltimefamilies/2012/02/26/the-real-housewives-of-ftf

Just one more quick thing… I fully realize that for many of you, taking a trip for six weeks with your kids in a tiny trailer wouldn’t be your idea of a dream.   That’s the cool thing about dreams, they’re different for everyone. Know that all we’re asking is for you to support us in our dream, not the dream itself.
